WHAT IS WATER SUBMETERING
Water submetering allows landlords, property managers, condominium associations, homeowners associations, or other multi-tenant property owners to charge tenants for water usage based on their individual consumption.
Water is a consumable commodity in which each tenant uses a different amount.
BENEFITS OF WATER SUBMETERING
- Reduce water consumption
- Lower operating costs for landlords
- Save water and protect the environment
- Increase building value
- Offsets rising water prices
- No unexpected excessive water bills

HOW WATER SUBMETERING WORKS
A separate private prepaid or wireless water submeter with built in shut off valves is installed after the utility providers main water meter.
Prepaid Submeters
The tenant will purchase an x amount of water units that will be loaded onto the prepaid submeters IC card. The purchased water units can then be loaded onto the prepaid submeter with a simple tap of the card, which will automatically open the submeters valve to allow the tenant to consume their purchased water units.
As the tenant consumes water, the submeter will automatically collect consumption data and update the available water units. The submeters valve will be automatically shut off when the available water units reach a low pre-configured level, this is to notify the tenant that they are almost out of water. At this time the tenant will have provided reloadable card in which tenant prepays for each unit required.
The tenant can then press a button on the submeter to continue using the remaining water units until the available units reach zero, at which point the submeters valve is shut off until the tenant purchases more water units.
Wireless Submeters
The tenant will purchase an x amount of water units that will automatically be remotely loaded onto the wireless submeter and the submeters valve will be opened to allow the tenant to consume their purchased water units. As the tenant consumes water, the submeter will collect usage data and update the available water units. The submeter will automatically shut off when the available usage reaches zero, at which point the submeters valve is shut off until the tenant purchases more water units.
